Wishbone chair

Ah, the wishbone chair. Otherwise known as the Y chair or the CH24 chair. This was designed by Hans Wegner in 1950 and is one of his most popular pieces. I love it’s Scandinavian organic simplicity. My favourite is this chair paired with an old harvest table. OH YEAH. A bit of Wishbone chair porn for your enjoyment.

Oh that European Living shot is beautiful. Love the all white.

It’s absolutely wild to me that designers can take the same element and make such vastly different, nothing-in-common rooms.

In fact, had you not had had the little blurb about the wishbone chair at the top of the post — I might not have even noticed that they all incorporated the same style chair.

I think that just goes to show that even if you’re stuck with some hand-me-down piece of furniture that you think isn’t “you”, it could totally be spruced up and somehow worked into a room that is completely “you”; that just because on first inspection something might not be your taste doesn’t mean it couldn’t be used in a room that is.

Don’t know if that’s a point you intentionally wanted to make, but either way: LOVE it.

Gorgeous pictures. You might not have intended this, but in the Wisteria photo, the table has wishbone shaped underneath that looks great with the chair. Love these!

stuffed says:

The arms break but *yeah, other than that* great chair. :0D I have six of them.

Thanks pve design – I must have missed that post yesterday.

KJ (my initials too) – I like to do posts about a particular item for that reason – to see designer’s different takes on how they should be used. And that is why I love thrift finds so much. You can get ’em cheap and have your way with it and turn it into something beautiful and original.

Melissa – good eye! I hadn’t really noticed the shape of that table.

stuffed – I am jealous. But the arms break?!?!

michelle says:

AHHH, my absolute favorite chair! I love it, and these photos make the chair look even more beautiful with all that brilliant styling.
