Katya de Grunwald

I remember first seeing Katya de Grunwald’s work in Elle Decoration a few years back. It was a series of photographs with an African riff, the ones below. My pages of that magazine are dog eared because I loved those images so much. Imagine how I felt when I came upon her website and found even more of her amazing work. Love it. Love the light, love the composition and the other worldliness you find in her images. Just love it!

Love the lighting in these – mixed with some of the backdrops creates an almost haunting atmosphere.

You are SO right Sol!

Her photographs are amazing. They immediately transport you to this new and interesting place where old meets new, ethnic meets modern. Absolutely beautiful.

these photos are just amazing. the colors and the composition. indeed, it does take one back to another time, another place yet is somehow familiar all the same. beautiful.
