The style hunter’s studio

Posted on Wed, 20 Jan 2010 by midcenturyjo

Imagine creating in a studio space such as this. Everywhere you look there is something beautiful, something quirky. Architectural details to die for, high high ceilings, a herringbone floor and a clear light streaming in. It’s the stuff of dreams and it’s also where Lázaro Rosa-Violán and his team at Contemporain create dreams for their clients. Sigh!

Style hunter

Posted on Wed, 20 Jan 2010 by midcenturyjo

Barcelona based interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán describes himself as a style hunter. His rooms ooze a sensuousness, a timeless luxury. Layers of texture, classic with a twist pieces, prominent art  – the interiors are rich and beautiful. It’s a carefully designed bespoke environment that at the same time is vibrant and so appealing. Not content with interior design, Lázaro and his multi-disciplinary team take a client from initial concept through to visual branding and merchandising. Stay tuned for a post devoted to Lázaro Rosa-Violán’s Contemporain studio. Amazing!

Some love from Israel

Posted on Tue, 19 Jan 2010 by KiM

I found a little surprise in my mailbox this afternoon when I got home from work and I am happy to now be able to share it with you all. My home is featured in the latest issue of Nisha, an interior design magazine from Israel. Of course, I can’t read it but I’m sure it’s a great read (LOL) and it’s filled with so many of my photos which is cool considering I am an aspiring photographer (who should really take a course or 3). They sent me a PDF copy a while back which I’ll share instead of attempting to scan the actual article. A huge thanks to Shira for including me in this issue. It’s such a great feeling (and kind of shocking to be honest) to know that people around the world appreciate the work I’ve put into my little Ottawa pad.

More black and white (and grey and lavender)

The other day a reader named Bo sent us this link to a black and white home on a Swedish real estate site. I thought it was a cool pad, but then while perusing the site I came across this home that really got me going. I LOVE the location, the open layout, the fresh colour scheme, the whitewashed wide plank hardwood, the grey trim, the black Smeg, the viewwwwww…….(thx Bo!)

Understated stalking

Posted on Tue, 19 Jan 2010 by midcenturyjo

Real estate stalking in Sydney with this sophisticated take on contemporary design. Elegant and understated with impeccable taste.  It’s a modern take on luxury. Quality that doesn’t scream “I cost a fortune”. Architect is William Zuccon of Dods and Zuccon. (Can a stalker be restrained? Restrained in her taste not by the courts!) Link here while it lasts.
