On the bottom shelf, way, way back …

… was a dusty volume long forgotten. A treasure trove of retro storage, a book that could just prove that everything old is new again. As I flicked from page to page I was confused. Hadn’t I seen these rooms in a recent Inside Out or Elle Decoration? I love finding a long lost book especially when it is Storage, A House and Garden Book, Melinda Davis, Pantheon Books, New York, 1978. Dreaming of moving in to any of these rooms.

Nothing excites me more than a little organization. (or a lot!)

I have this book- the Mr. just brought it home for me from a library sale, and I love it. I want that green and black pantry today, and that black office space. There are certainly a few very dated photos- but the majority stand up well to the test of time.

Priscilla says:

Dated? Like what? To my eye, it’s current!

Emma says:

Where can I find this lovely book? Thanks for sharing,

Tanya says:

Ah! I’ll take them all cause I love them all

oregonbird says:

It wasn’t all about giant collections of unwashed vegetables & shag carpeting on walls! Taste did exist.

the zhush says:

Amazing how current and fresh this looks to me!

Jo…do you know the makers of the pair of white chairs in the 3rd spread? Are they Ligne Roset? I love these images…I guess I live in the past!

midcenturyjo says:

MFG I’m not sure. I do know the storage system is by Behr (the book told me so!). I too live in the past. The scary thing is that I’m moving on from the 70s to the 80s. I’m just a little overly concerned about this development though 🙂
