Monday’s pets on furniture – part 2

Posted on Mon, 21 Feb 2011 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send me closeups of your pet!)

***Pets on furniture will be put on hold for the next couple of weeks while I am on holidays. Feel free to continue submitting photos to me. I will resume these posts on March 14th.

Here you have our hairy persian cat Bengt, six years old. He loves our furniture, here on a armchair from IKEA and a footrest from Englesson.

Pets Name: Sabine aka Bean, 6months old on Feb 18th

Our pug Mischa, who lives a life of leisure.

Our fourteen year old Brittanies, Ruby and Kiki, spend so much time on this sofa that I can count the number of times I’ve sat on it on one hand (and we’ve owned it for years!).
– Sara (Chicago, IL)

This is Primo, our 10 week old Lagotto Romagnolo puppy.   Primo loves to hide in the flokati rug in our dining room…as you can see, it is a perfect hiding spot for him.
– Brooke (Boston, MA)

Trying to photograph my Spanish Water Dog on a bench. He is extremely camera shy so it took 40 unsuccesful tries, very cold gloveless hands, and a dog in a bad mood. Of course, whenever I do not bring my camera he sits leisurely on this favourite bench of his!

I had to share the following email with my pets on furniture fans. It’s from a French reader named Margaux:
While reading your blog, I discovered your “Pets on furniture” articles and thought that it would be interesting to introduce you to Valerie Mayan. Valerie is a french artist really interested in animals and paints portraits of them. She chose an image of your “Pets on furniture” article and painted one of them. Valérie is used to work this way : She recieves a picture of an animal, the owner tells her which kind of colours they like and Valérie paints it. So if a reader is interested by her work they just have to send her an email at the following address : valerie.mayan@gmail.com and they may also visit her website: www.valeriemayan.com

how am i supposed to get through THREE MONDAYS without my pets on furniture?

RedScorpio says:

Bengt is adorable!

Thank you guys so much for including my Spanish Waterdog despite him being to damn camera shy. You'd think he is in a witness protection programme.

I also agree with 'deedy'; three weeks without Pets on Furniture is just too long.

KiM says:

Sorry folks about the upcoming 3 week hiatus in pet posts. But frankly I'd rather spend the time chilling out on the beach and enjoying weather about 60 degrees celsius warmer than here. Do forgive me. There is an upside – the pet post haters will love me again for those 3 weeks.

Christina says:

Kim, that had crossed my mind because I remembered seeing some people whine about the pet posts. I for one love them! I'm waiting with great anticipation to find my cat Milo looking cute on some furniture one of these days so I can snap a picture. 🙂

Danielle says:

Anyone know where to purchase that great white swing arm lamp in the picture submitted by Heather & Greg?

Sparky says:

The fourteen year-old Brittanies, Ruby and Kiki just tug at my heart—their faces are so sweet. I hold a special affection for the senior dogs. OK and since you made a "plug" on the topic—I paint pet portraits, too! ;o)

I love this idea and seeing all these cozy pets!
Thank you!

Myra says:

3 weeks?!?!?!? we'll be going into withdrwal syndrome here. OUCH!

Heather says:

For Danielle: That swing arm lamp in our photo is from IKEA. I forget the model name though. Hope that helps a little bit! Take care.
