Schuyler Samperton update

Posted on Wed, 22 Feb 2012 by KiM

It’s been quite some time since I blogged about LA based interior designer Schuyler Samperton. She’s been busy lately, having designed the fabulous home of model Carolyn Murphy that is featured in the March issue of Vogue. Her work continues to impress, and she still isn’t afraid of colour which I love about her. Such cozy spaces that are unassumingly gorgeous. (My favourite space is at the end – bookmarking that one!!!)

OMG. I have a bunch of cats that would go ballistic for this climbing wall structure.

The church’s work

Another church conversion to add to our comprehensive “what to do with an old church or what not to do” list. This reuse of church space as office space can be found in Brisbane. ( I can’t believe I didn’t think of it earlier. I used to drive past it all the time.) Mowbraytown Presbyterian Church built in 1885 and redesigned (or is that adaptively re-used) by Base Architecture.

Where’s the bed?

My brother-in-law sent me a great link from Treehugger (via Contemporist) to a brilliant way to hide a bed away when dealing with a small space. Point Architecture (based in Torino, Italy) hid a bed in a drawer-like space in the living room, creating sleeping quarters for the owners so their children could have the only bedroom in the apartment. This look so much easier to deal with than a Murphy bed.

Ashe + Leandro again

It’s been about 3 looong years since I blogged about the architecture and interior design firm of Ashe + Leandro. Their spaces were energizing and eclectic back then and they sure haven’t deviated from their funky style that I love since. To my delight, I found a bunch of new projects on their site – here are some of my favourite rooms.

Taking flight

Posted on Tue, 21 Feb 2012 by midcenturyjo

Beautiful interiors come to life through the lens of Swedish photographer Idha Lindhag. Vignettes vibrate with the loveliness of ordinary everyday beauty. It’s almost like I want to take flight like a bird breaking free from the light…. oh bad prose! Good photos though 😉
