Noxon Giffen

Posted on Thu, 26 Jul 2012 by midcenturyjo

A timeless take on modern Australian architecture by Noxon Giffen. Houses are about the human experience, how the building relates to the site and sustainability. This is contemporary architecture that is deceptively simple. Minimal at times but always at maximum stylistically. Starting with the Manning Road House (shortlisted in the 2012 Australian Interior Design Awards in the Residential Design Category) and moving on to other recent works it is easy to see why their clean simple lines are making the Australian design community sit up and take notice. P.S. Check out the serious over supply of iconic Australian midcentury furniture by Grant Featherston. Enough for a healthy deposit on a house! I’m in heaven.

Charles de Lisle – a quickie

Posted on Wed, 25 Jul 2012 by KiM

Before I pass out, here is one more quickie, courtesy of the portfolio of interior designer Charles de Lisle. It is a few bits from one of his projects, that features a pretty funky light fixture in a dining room and one of the coolest coffee tables I’ve ever seen. (I seem to be crushing on Charles as I’ve blogged his work already here, here and here).

I just got home from a dinner out with my husband for our 2 year anniversary (we ate here) and OMG Southern cuisine is yummy but dear gawd I’m just about ready to pass out. I’m having a hard time getting past my full stomach to put some thoughts together so how about this…enjoy some wonderful interior photography from New Yorker Tara Striano.

More from Denai Kulcsar

I had to return to the work of Australian interior designer Denai Kulcsar for another look. Her Park House had you singing her praises and “pinning” up a storm. Here are more rooms to inspire. Enjoy.

Michael Wells encore

Sometimes a picture traps you, pulls you in, seduces you. An image grows into imagination, inspiration. Something as simple as light and film, a shutter and a bucket load of talent takes your breath away. (OK we all know that the light and film thing is old hat and don’t get me to explain the intricacies of digital imagining because I can’t. As for the simplicity of a bucketful of talent I let the hyperbole run away from me.) All I really know is that photographer Michael Wells has “it”, the gift, the knack. Enjoy his portfolio…. so much more new work since last time he popped up on our pages here.
