Silvia Rademakers is an interior designer based in Barcelona whose work I discovered the other day when I blogged this home (she was the designer). Her spaces are understated yet very eye-catching, neutral without being dull, and modern yet liveable and certainly cosy.

How do you manage a rampant sense of domestication? Even the steampunk set-up is wearing a cardigan and smoking a pipe. The euro-kitchen always offers that touch of dangerous non-conformity… but here, it's just a perfectly clipped poodle of a kitchen. I'm not dissing — it's definitely a talent, to impose civilization on everything you touch. Anyone who can forge a sense of calm reason in a room while installing a squid-from-outer-space light fixture has my utmost respect!
