The house in the sea

Posted on Wed, 29 Jan 2014 by midcenturyjo

Imagine living on an island (when the tide is in) in a 1930’s house with its own suspension bridge. Imagine spectacular views along the Cornish coast. Imagine a stylish home of understated luxury with a muted colour palette of charcoal greys and neutrals. The ultimate in beach houses? You don’t need to imagine staying there. It’s a luxury holiday rental. The House in the Sea, Newquay, Cornwall via Unique Home Stays

Copper

Posted on Tue, 28 Jan 2014 by KiM

I just wanted to quickly thank Sandra, the 3 Jessica’s, Barbara, Erin, and Morag for the donations sent yesterday for Agnes’ vet bills. Much appreciated. And as much as I hate to ask again, if anyone is able to spare a few bucks to help get little Agnes up to snuff so she can live the rest of her life healthy and in a loving home, details are in yesterday’s post. I swear I won’t ask again – my last desperate plea.

I love anything copper, so this bathroom with exposed copper piping is going into my inspiration folder. LOVE IT!!! Via Karhard Architektur.

Karhard Architektur

A few months back Jo featured some adorable kid-friendly architectural details by Berlin-based firm Karhard Architektur. I stumbled upon their website the other day and I love their simple approach. It’s down to the basics yet there’s warm, inviting vibe. Love the rough wood plank room divider, the white-washed hardwood, and the swinging desk in the last couple of photos is pretty cool! (Stay tuned for another favourite space)

Brick Bay House

Planted firmly in the hillside and blurring the boundaries between inside and out the house sits on a country road on the way to the Snells Beach in the North Island of New Zealand.  Referencing farm shed and beach the building steps down over the site with walls that open to spectacular vistas of field and sea. Stylish and casual but with a simple elegance. Brick Bay House by Glamuzina Paterson Architects.

Stalking has resumed

” Jo is in her stalking heaven – All’s right with the world!” The real estate market is warming up and I am stalking at full pace again. Thank goodness I live in another state because I would be standing on the doorstep of this Clovelly, Sydney house with a packed bag and a some story I had concocted about my moving in. Love the master suite downstairs, love the kitchen, the pastel flashes of old glass windows, the lush little backyard and the fact that it is 250m to the beach. Yes please! Link here while it lasts.
