Stalking two terraces in Sydney – no. 1

Posted on Thu, 1 May 2014 by midcenturyjo

I’m stalking two houses in Paddington, Sydney today. Both Victorian era terrace houses just a few blocks apart but at opposite ends of the style spectrum. Here’s number one. A corner terrace with an elegant, contemporary feel but still with loads of period features. Love the kitchen with its easy access to the garden. Wait until you stalk the second terrace with me then let me know which one is your favourite. I bet you’ll be able to pick mine. Link here while it lasts.

Is this floor plan for this house? They layout looks different.

Desire to Inspire says:

Well spotted Fiona G. I 've changed it to the right one – Jo.

Jared Hayden says:

I'd definitely choose this one, mainly due to the far more agreeable layout. Number 2 is charming, but feels a bit more cramped. One small bathroom for four bedrooms?! That could be a challenge if you had a full house.

This one is on a busy corner! No thanks.

There is a bit of history to this house. Last year it was sold (unrenovated) for the first time in 50 years, as a deceased estate. The elderly owner had kept several of the rooms closed for decades and the contents were kept intact, like a time capsule.
It's almost a shame it hasn't retained more of the heritage quality.
