Mostly white

It seems like it has been ages since I have featured Scandinavian-style spaces. These beautiful and bright homes, captured by Dutch photographer Hans Mossel, are a great way to get back into it.

Elisabeth says:

Note: this is NOT scandinavian at all! !!!!!
IT is as Dutch (that is from Holland) as can be!
I recognize it before reading the text.

Look for more fabulous Dutch interiors the magazine "VT Wonen".

Alas, in last years the magazine developped a deplorable preference for ' vintage'; junk. But the rest is still remarkeble beautiful.

KiM says:

Dutch…Scandinavian….sorry but I can't tell the difference.

Carmel says:

Love it!

Elisabeth says:

There is certainly a difference. But then, I live in Holland and I can assure you , Scandinavia is a different part of the world. Of course there is a big Exchange in styles and furniture, interiors have become global. You see everywhere in the World the same Ikea cushions and the black bird of Eames. But Dutch design has a vintage feel and humour in the design. I spotted iT directly.

You know: in Holland there are 17 million inhabitans.
In Denmark 6.
In Norway 5 or 6
In Sweden 6.
Do you know how little Holland is?

We were in Denmark this summer, very beautiful, But nowhere in Scandinavia there are so much really pretty, old cities as in Holland I can say proudly:
Leiden, where we live, Haarlem, Delft, Utrecht, Amersfoort, Alkmaar, Groningen, Deventer, Zwolle, Leeuwarden , amsterdam , Kampen, Middelburg, Vlissingen, Breda, Maastricht, Nijmegen. IJlst, Sneek, Bolsward. Gouda.

All worth of paying a visit.

And we have the most beautiful railway stations: Rotterdam !

Well, a real outburst of nationalistic proud. 🙂

KiM says:

I would love to visit all 4 one day. (To clarify, I only meant I don't see a difference in the decor)

Susan says:

I showed this page to my husband (100% Swede; I'm Swedish and Norwegian) and right away he said, "This isn't Scandinavian!". (The only way I could tell was by the last photo and by the fact that the photographer was Dutch!)

But he was MORE upset about the comment about Sweden's population, and would like everyone to know that it's a little more than 9 1/2 million inhabitants!!!!
Men!

oegonbird says:

That was amusing. 🙂 But getting back into cooler deco with less of a 1% footprint? Priceless. Good call! Maybe a post that demonstrates the differences between Scandi and Dutch deco would be helpful?

White is next to black one of my favorite colors – everything works well with him in projects
