Stalking leftovers

It’s that time of the week. Time to stalk the leftovers, the ones that didn’t make the cut. Call me particular, finicky, choosy and hard to please. Not quite right, bad photos, I need more photos please, house is amazing furniture is deplorable or even fab furniture shabby shell. Can’t quite put my finger on it listings with something that has me nodding “yes”. This week’s finds include a radical reno that reveals nothing from the facade, a warehouse space with a decidedly un-warehouse decor, a garage that became a house and the usual tag team of terrace houses. Gorgeous slab of timber as a kitchen bench in #8 (the Northcote warehouse). I'd get rid of about 80 per cent of the objets d'art and other stuff, though. Guess it's the great temptation of warehouse-scale spaces, to fill them up with *stuff* and thereby make them feel human-sized. Personally I'd prefer just a few larger-than-usual 'feature' pieces of furniture and decoration.

Hi Jo, I'm sorry to say this but I really dislike all these photos lately that are photoshopped.
Nothing looks real in them, from the artificial gloss on the furniture and floors to all the artificial lighting.
I love your blog and have been a fan for many years, and I guess you have to work with what's available.
I've wanted to make this comment for some time, and I guess this piece pushed the right button.

Welcome to real estate photographs in Australia Dolores. I agree. They are photoshopped within an inch of their lives. Especially high contrast HDR images … almost obligatory here and it annoys me no end. I guess that's why these houses end up in my leftover posts. I really like parts of the homes but the photos are dreadful hence they end up here not in their own individual post. Slowly but surely a more natural approach to taking real estate photos is showing up in listings here. Funny thing is I'm so used to the awful photos that the new "nice" photos look weird 😛
