Friday afternoon eye candy

Posted on Fri, 24 Oct 2014 by KiM

I thought I would share just a little bit of eye candy on this Friday afternoon. TGIF! While these may be product shots, it is one of those rare occasions when the photographer and stylist are so good, you don’t even notice the products right away. Photographed by Morten Borgestad

A little country

Posted on Fri, 24 Oct 2014 by KiM

We don’t post many traditional/country spaces here, I mostly don’t because I am generally not a fan. But these spaces designed by Montreal interior designer Scott Yetman are an exception. I really enjoy these tranquil, liveable designs and their neutral colour palettes. There just needs to be a dog and some cats curled up in front of the fireplace and a cup of hot apple cider in my hand and LE SIGH.

The Cross Street Project

Posted on Fri, 24 Oct 2014 by midcenturyjo

So here’s the premise. You fall in love with a home in a magazine and want to buy it all. Right now. Lock, stock and barrel. Or you’re at an open for inspection and take a liking to the sofa or the vase or that print. Now you just can’t take it with you. Or can you? The Cross Street Project by C+M Studio allows you to buy into that impulse. You can buy the apartment empty, you can buy it all or you can shop the amazing objects that fill the space. Open for 3 weeks only from October 25 the apartment is in Bronte, Sydney but you can find all the details here.

Capps residence

I have always wanted to live in a home that was very traditional on the outside and the complete opposite on the inside. This home by San Antonio, Texas firm Poteet Architects is just that, and it’s FABULOUS. The exterior is absoutely gorgeous – those wrap-around porches! The interior is modern and sleek, with all of the wood work painted white (eeekkk! but admittedly, it looks great). I love the idea of people expecting to walk in to granny’s house and being totally surprised. (More of their work here and here).

Lucyna goes glam

Polish interior designer Lucyna Kołodziejska typically creates spaces that are modern and graphic (we have featured her work several times), but this time she has gone in a completely different direction. This apartment is about about class and glamour. Lots of silver and mirrored shine makes this space sparkle, and all of the black is grounding and oh so hot. This might be my favourite creation of Lucyna’s yet.

P.S. I have to say that I am still reeling from the terrifying events that occurred here in Ottawa yesterday, just a couple of blocks from where I was working. My thoughts go out to everyone affected, especially those who knew Cpl. Nathan Cirillo who was shot and killed while guarding the War Memorial. Stupid and senseless.
