A refurbished Victorian home in London

Posted on Fri, 22 Jan 2016 by KiM

How about a fabulously refurbished Victorian home for your Friday viewing pleasure. This home has been made over into 2 maisonette apartments and fortunately many of the original details like the moldings (*SWOON*) have been left intact. Featuring chevron-laid hardwood and some gorgeous marble fireplaces, this is a beauty, and for sale via Domus Nova.

Great Post!

I love how the designer was able to capture multiple styles – traditional, modern, contemporary and industrial – within this space. It is one big eclectic mash that is very inviting.

My favorite elements: the glass breakfast room, the large art piece (in what I assume is the entrance), the preservation of the original fireplace and moldings in the dining room… the list goes on.

The only element I feel is out-of-place or distracting in the doors (or dividers) between the dining room and the living room. They are very large and very white. I assume there was no way to recess them in the wall therefore my preference would be to something more decorative looking such as folding screens with some type of intricate wood design….
What are your thoughts on these?

I loved this place from the start but then I loved it even more when I saw they had a pair of Bowers & Wilkins PM1 speakers by the fireplace. Im dying for those speakers! And that place 😀 The owners/designers have great taste.

I agree with you on those dividers Ellen. I don't get the point in having them at all – they're just cumbersome. When would you ever want to close off the dining room from the living room?
