Hump day eye candy

These stunning photos have me dreaming of Farrow & Ball paints, cozying up in wrinkled sheets and bright summer days. A welcome distraction by talented Danish photographer Anders Hviid-Haglund.

Waterfront – Olivia O’Bryan

Posted on Wed, 23 Mar 2016 by KiM

Sisters Ashley ‘Olivia’ Waddell and Courtney ‘O’Bryan’ Whatley of Florida based interior design firm Olivia O’Bryan took a stunning waterfront property and transformed it into an elegant, yet somewhat casual home that I sincerely hope the owners use as their main residence. The mostly white walls and light concrete floors make every room so bright – I bet sunny days makes this even more special in person. Now if you will excuse me a margarita and that pool are beckoning….

April Inside Out

Posted on Wed, 23 Mar 2016 by midcenturyjo

Every month I roll my eyes in mock horror when I see an email from Matilda Duffecy, Social and Senior Editor at Inside Out. It means another month has flown by. Thankfully Matilda has sent over a few teasers from the pages of April’s issue out tomorrow to make it all better.

Our April is our colour issue! I love working on and sharing the colour issue with everyone – it’s just so full of life! This year’s incarnation does not disappoint and we are encouraging our audience to reimagine what you thought you knew about colour! Spin the wheel to find your perfect palette. A first look at our cover highlights a fresh take on tones with the rich couch as the centrepiece of the living zone with jolts of tones warming the space. The cover was styled by Heather Nette King and photographed by Lisa Cohen.

I’ve also included the living zone of the gorgeous cover home. The glazed white bricks surrounding that fireplace make such a strong statement. It just goes to show that even the quiet details can be the strongest. Also, look at that chair! Major wishlist item! The whole house is full of personality-packed details and it’s so fantastic to see how one family created a home that they never want to leave. This was also styled by Heather Nette King and photographed by Lisa Cohen.

Oh to be small again and play in a room like this! If your little one loves Frozen, then perhaps she’ll love this elegant spot to dream big! Vanessa Colyer Tay styled this space beautifully and Sam McAdam-Cooper did fantastic work behind the lens.

As it’s our colour issue, we had great fun with our Which colour combo are you? feature. It features some hilarious stylings by writer Carrie Hutchinson, but the images are rich with colour inspiration. I’ve included the yellow & white page, which features an electrifying swatch of ‘Clean & Protect’ low sheen interior paint in Yellow Mania by British Paints. The whole shoot is gorgeous. It was styled by Joseph Gardner and photographed by Sam McAdam-Cooper.

Our best buys in this issue cover water bottles and dining chairs, and hasn’t stylist Joseph Gardner done a fantastic job? He aced it for sure! Craig Wall photographed these features.

And finally, as the weather is starting to turn a little chillier here, I’ve included a snap from our Sunday Best food feature, which is packed with recipes for a winning Sunday roast. Food styling was by Bernadette Smithies with the shots styled by Danielle Selig and photography by Jeremy Simons.

Can’t wait to see more in this month’s issue out tomorrow. Don’t fret if you aren’t in Australia though. You can read along on ZinioGoogle Play, the Apple Newsstand and Nook.

More from Timothy Johnson Design

Because I have a new crush on Mr. Timothy Johnson, I thought I would feature a bit more of his gorgeous spaces that I am lusting over. Like the super hot dining room above. That light fixture! *GASP* (I did a bit of research and it is the budget blowing Atlantis Suspension Light by Terzani).

Kraków Apartment

Posted on Tue, 22 Mar 2016 by midcenturyjo

Industrial meets loft meets Scandinavian all tied together with a rough luxe, burnt out ruin twist. Like wearing an edgy outfit with the hems dragging in the dirt is how I would describe this 90 sqm apartment renovation in Kraków, Poland by design firm projekt i. Exposed brick, roughly painted white or almost smoke stained black, is juxtaposed with sleek white kitchen or softened with fabric swathes and knots. Custom soft furnishings and lighting by sister firm taftyli add an edge to the scheme.
