Casa Sumaré

A couple of months ago Jo featured a project by Brazilian architect Felipe Hess that was fresh and colourful with some fun graphic patterns. I came across this project of Felipe’s that is quite the opposite. Not what we typically see from a Brazilian – this one is very subdued, modern and minimalist. I love it for those reasons. And because someone clearly has great taste in chairs (Hans Wegner’s Hoop and Peacock).

Perhaps the only sad thing about Brazilian design and architecture is the apparent need to fortify their dwellings as if they're maximum security prisons. Everything else is so joyous and liberated.
