Monday … need coffee

Posted on Mon, 30 May 2016 by midcenturyjo

I love a great cup of coffee and I love a great cafe to have it in. The perfect way to kickstart the week.

“The detailing takes its cue from Japanese furniture design, balancing form, colour and texture. Dark framing elements add solidity and structure to the pieces while the textured speckled infill panels add colour and a sense of playfulness. The café design is an exercise in simplicity, playfulness and restraint, allowing the space to compliment the elements within it, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.” Wynyard Café in South Melbourne by Adele Bates Design.

A fun little apartment in Stockholm

I found another apartment for sale on Lagerlings that I had to share. This one is spunky and fun in a fairly small footprint (63 m²). It consists of basically 2 rooms – a combined kitchen/dining room/living room and a bedroom. Some photography framed and hung along with a gallery wall add some drama to the walls and the floor to ceiling shelving in the dining room is a great storage solution and also adds some architectural interest to the space. A glamorous bedroom with stripes, satin curtains and faux fur round off the drama. (And I’m guessing the homeowner found a really awesome sale on Kartell Bourgie lamps).

Working on a Saturday

If I was an employee at Blush Flowers in the Auckland, New Zealand suburb of Parnell I don’t think I would be actually working. No, technically I’d be floating on a cloud of perfumed beauty. That’s why there is no one in shot in the shop. They are floating high, just out of sight, above the photographer’s head. The design is by owner and creative director Kelly Karam with key pieces by Douglas and Bec.

This is what happens when I try to delay starting the painting of 22 door panels (the last of the mahogany crap varnish) – I decide blog research is more important and I come across this absolute beauty of an apartment in for sale in Östermalm, Stockholm via Lagerlings. 247m² of classic and modern goodness with a plethora of plants as the icing on the cake. This home speaks to me on so many levels. I am in love and going to dream about this all weekend (while I melt – Ottawa is supposed to be around 40C! Jo isn’t the only one experiencing abnormally high temperatures.)
