Sunday at the bar

Posted on Sun, 24 Sep 2017 by KiM

What do you do when you have a commercial space with double height windows along 2 sides? Fill it with plants and go tropical!! Bar Botanique – Café Tropique in Amsterdam is one of the coolest bars I have ever seen. Shades of green and salmon with accents of yellow and blue, it is an absolutely beautiful hangout day or night. Little Black Shack

Yesterday I stalked a multi-million dollar house on Sydney’s Pittwater, all black and glass and steel. It was fabulous no doubt but I’ll let you into a secret. I’m a simple girl who likes simple things, beautiful, simple things I admit. If I had the choice between spending the weekend in yesterday’s mansion or today’s fibro shack I think I’d choose this Little Black Shack. Simple. I mean look at that view!

I am totally in love with the home of London interior designer Tiffany Duggan of Studio Duggan. Recently renovated, this Edwardian townhouse is filled with an eclectic blend of styles, textures and patterns. Lots of bold art work and wall colour choices make this eclectic home an absolute treasure.

More of Tiffany’s work can be found here.

Scale of Ply

Like a giant origami box or an exercise in geometry this remodel and extension of a Victorian house in Dublin by Noji “uses plywood as a primary and secondary structural material to replace an aged conservatory that acted as the main light source for the ground floor. The prefabricated plywood structure allows for a series of interconnecting triangular plains positioned to allow light deep into the plan as the sun moves through the day.” Love the intersecting lines and the tumble of triangles but the math involved in its design would have blown my mind.

Stalking black and white on the water

Posted on Fri, 22 Sep 2017 by midcenturyjo

I’m stalking the epitome of style and relaxed sophistication on the the shores of Sydney’s Pittwater in the suburb of Bayview. Black and white with accents of warm woods and the glint of metallics. Effortless transition between the beautiful interiors and the lush landscaped garden. Then there are the views and the fact that you have only to cross the road to feel the sand between your toes. Want. Seriously, seriously want. Link here while it lasts.
