Colombe Steven

Simplicity in all it's elegance or perhaps harmony. Yes the harmony of all things simple and beautiful. I can't quite put my finger on it. The work of Colombe Stevens tugs at my soul. It speaks to me but I can't hear the words but do know the feeling so well. Love it. A very French interpretation of the finer things in life. Beauty in constraint. Is that a picture of what I think it is? I'm not sure I'd like a picture of the Klan in my dining room or any room in my house for that matter. Disturbing!

I love the red sofa and the wright bedroom.

MB I don't think it is a picture of the Klan. In countries like Spain penitents in the Catholic church wear hooded costumes like that during Holy Week. It is a centuries old custom. Here's a http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/worldnews/5115694/Hooded-penitents-take-part-in-Holy-Week-processions-in-Spain.html?image=7" rel="nofollow">link.

I stand corrected! Cool, I'm so glad because I enjoy soaking up all the lovely images on Desire to Inspire. Cheers, MB

oh, you girls did good today - I love that you pick intriguingly original interiors to show & tell - great post!

The picture above the fireplace is interesting. It looks like two different things when you look at it close up and far away.

These are beautiful - really love that dining area with shelves to display framed art. (and relieved to hear they were not Klan photos!)

Books always get me. A weakness of mine. But this is the first time I think I've seen a telescope used in a room and I love it (I am, after all, an astrophysics chick) -- it's worked in so well to the decor.

MCJ -- everyone hopes you are right re: the hooded figures, but still, there's only one thing that hoods represent to anyone anymore. Rather like trying to convince someone that a swastika tattoo celebrates Indian culture... Anyone coming on the site will have a visceral reaction to the third picture post.

Other than that -- you got very poetic, today!

I'm afraid hoods only represent the Klan in the US, actually. I'm from Spain, and all the pictures in the display are from the "Hole Week", our Easter celebration. You can see dark hooded figures in front of a representation of a Virgin in another picture, one of the people carrying the figures with clothes wrapped around their heads...

I honestly believe is a bit of an overreaction to compare this centuries old traditions with the symbol of one of the most shocking historical events of all humanity. Lets all try not be so self centered. x)
