Buckingham Interiors + Design

The Christmas card elves dropped a little e-card in my inbox on Christmas Eve.  Julia Buckingham Edelmann of Buckingham Interiors + Design was wishing us season's greetings and let slip the exciting news that she has a new website. Love a new website especially with new work and, of course, I love Julia's work which she has generously shared with us before (here, here and here). Now that the holiday chaos has settled I finally got a chance to check it out. I couldn't wait till regular posting next week to share. Julia's work mixes classic with contempory, elegance with a twist of fun. In fact she really lets her hair down when it comes to her commercial work!

World's BIGGEST ceiling hook -- weirdest thing to choose to dominate a room, ever. Don't oil paintings fade in full sunlight? If not, I've got a portrait I'm moving to a better spot! I've rarely seen such oddly booby-trapped rooms -- there seems to be something to trip over or bump into or knock over (I love the table full of pottery AND the clock on the easel) at every turn! This collection reminds me of the classic 'fear' joke -- 1) I'm afraid of loud noises 2) I'm afraid of falling Brit) I'm afraid of making a loud noise while I'm falling! There's a very gangly, large-pawed feel to these rooms; they're complete, very much so, but it will take a few sensible adjustments before they can be deemed mature. But NOTHING should change in the room with the shiny pink table! I adore the colors, and feel that turtles should think about it very carefully before wandering into Ms. Julia's establishment.

I've been a fan of Ms. Edelmann's work for quite some time. I think her "out of the box" interiors are absolutely EXTRAORDINARY and her designs are extremely difficult to duplicate (or even come close to!) She is such a natural and such an inspiration! I always look forward to see what she comes up with next.

PS: LOVE "the world's BIGGEST ceiling hook"! such a cool feature in the room!

Love the quirkiness of her designs. Very unexpected.

If you're afraid of knocking objects over, then you should not have brought your kid.

Bravo, Julia! Congrats on the new website!
