Simon Carver

We received an email from Brigid, who wanted to tell us about her friend Simon Carver. Seems Simon and his partner Stuart have a cottage in Daylesford, Victoria, Australia which is avail for rent, called Harts Lane. They renovated and decorated it themselves, and it was featured in Inside Out magazine some time ago. There are 2 dwellings on the site, a white Victorian cottage and a black modern extension 'Cube' studio space. The house was decorated with a bit of a country style with artwork by local artists, and features a gourmet kitchen with a polished concrete countertop. The homes, inside and out, are incredible. I have to admit, when I finally got my hands on some photos, I was giddy with excitement to share these with you. This is for sure on my top 5 list of favourite spaces I've ever posted on DTI. Seriously, it's that good. Good enough that this post is of photos of the cottage, and a post later today will be of the studio. See for yourselves. :) (A big thanks to Brigid, Simon and Phil!!)

I LOVE IT!!! I want this little cottage to be my home. I love, love the interior and all the furniture, etc. Thank you so much for sharing this. FYI, I love your blog... I check in daily!
Keep up the great work.

I hate Simon and Stuart! I mean, c'mon! If we're going to be friends here then a little atonement is in order. Okay...I can be flexible guys. If you come to the U.S. and redo my home I guess I could consider that a satisfying apology of sorts! ;)

OMG! Is it wrong to really LOVE a home this much? My heart aching...me want to go there!

Bring on the rest of the pics, Kim!

Ouch...oh my heart is hurting with joy!

Ooooh more like this, please! I'm obsessed with gray right now, and I love those dark dark floors with the airy walls.

I can see why this is in your top 5 Kim. This cottage is so beautifully done. I got so excited when I saw the yellow wall and then the pics of the kitchen...I am at a loss for words. Amazing.

I know what you mean about the excitement of first seeing these pictures. Just perfect. I'm "this" close to buying a heritage listed unrestored house and this is great inspiration.

Wow, Wow, Wow!

Just beautiful, the colour combo is spot on. Luckily I am located in Melbourne, so am thinking this would be perfect for holiday.

I have stayed at Harts Lane before, I must say it was a lovely blend of the old/new, everything came together very well, a credit to the designers.
