Subtle changes powerful impact

You've seen this house before in magazines, product shoots and here on Desire to Inspire. It's location78, the East London photographic location house of photographer Graham Atkins-Hughes and stylist Jo Atkins-Hughes. Their design, their styling, their business. Look more closely and you'll see them, the subtle changes that have taken this house to the next level. A few well chosen pieces of furniture and new accessories, touches of new colour (including a black living room), warm timber tones have added a life and a warmth to an already amazing house. To cap it all are these fabulous new photos by Graham. A new look at old favourites, a peek at spaces we haven't seen before and an exuberant garden that is the perfect foil for the moody maturity of the interiors. I couldn't make up my mind which photos to leave in or out. I'm guilty, I'm afraid Graham, of using almost all of them. Available for location hire ... maybe I could hire it permanently and move on in.

P.S. Launching soon an online shop at their website sevenandeight.com and they have started a blog. I'm sure they'll let us know when they have all the content ready.

It's beautiful and i adore grey but i'd like at least one room lighter or i might feel like i'm living underground!

I agree with Tracey. It's too dark and dingy although the decor is fab.

I love the cave like feel. The warm wood and the natural leathers lift so well with it.

Me too, I love the warm feeling, it's mysterious and soothing at the same time.

Love the leather couch, where is it from?

Wow! Gorgeous decor but it's too dark for me. By the time I got to the bottom and saw the door in the kitchen leading out to sunshine, that was a huge relief to my eyes! Too dark, I was squinting to enjoy the decor. Nevertheless, mightily creative use of talent I must say.

I feel like painting our house house black and grey.

Amazing...love these spaces!

mmm, mysterious and soothing. The image of the sofa/pillow/wine glass on book made me feel as though I'm actually staying over for dinner.... That is the type of photo that hints at the decor; I'm inspired to stop taking pics of an entire room and just focus on a vignette! Thank you for sharing your beautiful work.

Who knew black could be so cozy. I can see myself with a blanket, a good book and my puppy. Beautiful and the collections of objects give it such a personal touch.

I don't know why, but this reminds me a bit of the Brady Bunch home. lol

OK...love the modern chandelier...fabulous and the huge poppies in the garden. They were great!

nice pieces but overall, it's too dark for me!!

It's a bit Mad Men-love how the colors seem to glow against the grays!

What is the color of that gorgeous grey? I would love this for my bedroom! Teleport me there, please!

No, I've looked and I've looked and think that this is a work of design billiance. A beautiful collection of furnishings highlighted against a satin grey backdrop. Also check out the subtle use of texture throughout, makes my want to touch all I see. Honestly the ONLY thing I want to get rid of is that ghastly glass lamp with the bobble fringe...no excuse for that amongst this collection. love love love it. (I'm so over white anyway, so I AM biased, lol)

Can someone ID the two chairs with crome legs and orange/green fabric?

I love the dark, rich walls.

The black is so dramatic. It really makes the furniture pop. I love it.
