Love this!!!

I'd say the other 1% are purely selfish posts that Jo and I post because we find something we adore and want to remember. This is one of those selfish posts. My twin sister sent me this home on Hus & Hem the other day and I went a little nuts. I am in love with the black exterior of this home. I've been thinking alot lately about what to do with the interior of my home, particularly the new addition we're adding, and haven't given alot of thought to the exterior. But after seeing these photos I WANT A BLACK HOUSE!!! The interior of this home is pretty fabulous too because it's black and white and that's what I'd like to do to mine, but with less of a modern/Swedish vibe and more industrial and ethnic bits thrown in.
P.S. My husband and I found 2 local architects that we'd LOVE to work with for the addition we're planning for the house but one is too busy and the other missed an appointment with us this week. I'm starting to worry we'll never find anyone so if anyone out there knows of an architect in Ottawa who is creative and likes to think a bit outside the box, please email me @ desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com. I love this too! I would kill for that metal exterior dining table. I also love the small pops of color in the public spaces and bathroom. The kids room also keep in balance with the rest of the house but they have tons of personality and color. What a great home.... when can I move in with the family?
Love the black. My husband would veto it in an instant though. The dining chairs are awesome too.

One day, I will a) own a house and b) paint it black. You just can't help staring at them... They're very inviting somehow.
The exterior of this house is amazing! There is one exactly the same that went right up in my neighbourhood here in Toronto. It was part of an extension, and so this new black clad exterior it is attached to beautiful old reddish brick. It really made me re-think exteriors - I love it so much.

My black extension is going up as we speak!! I am hoping it doesn't get too popular ( selfish of me, I know!) because there are none where I live and I have LOVED them since seeing one in New Zealand 5 years ago

Here in NZ we have alot of black timber contemporary homes. They always look stunning - grey concrete block is a good partner. I also love it when the garden tones in with silver highlights such as the native astelia.

We have a black house with larch panel and white window frames. And I really love it! I have to blog about it sometimes.
In pic # 5 is that a horse-hide rug? Eek! Guess it is not a lot different from a cowhide but being a horse lover it would feel very creepy to me. Otherwise, very nice.
