Nickey Kehoe inspiration

Almost moved in. Who am I kidding? I have another day of moving on Saturday. This time all my artwork and the shed ... the dreaded shed! I've been collecting inspiration photos for my new old home for months (years) and I wanted to share some work by Todd Nickey and Amy Kehoe of Nickey-Kehoe. I've peeped into their portfolio before (here) but I'm really getting into the "vintage meets modern wrapped up in comfort and easy care" vibe of this Hollywood Hills home. I want a home that looks good but also feels good. One that lets me live my life without worrying about the "precious" furnishings. I want to flop into a chair or snuggle up in a bedroom and feel at home. I think I could here. After the jump I've also included a few shots of a Long Island home they also created. Tell me what you think of the sofa in the powder room ;)

P.S. I still have so much to do here in the new old house and tomorrow is a huge day. Please forgive if I don't post tomorrow. I'll be up to my eyeballs in boxes and sweat. Hopefully I'll have the first few video walk throughs of the house. Very very "before" for sure! You'll find them on my page as soon as I finish uploading them. I'll say bye for now. I can't put off unpacking for any longer.

The peacock roman shade is beautiful! And I love the "peace, peace" banner above the doorway. It makes the home feel so welcoming. Love it!

And the sofa in the powder room feels very "fancy restaurant" to me - a nice touch!

I remember this house from Domino! Mark Ruffalo, right?
LOVE the clean and warm feel. xoxo

i have always coveted that first image. such beautiful work!

i also love the peacock shade. in fact, i pretty much love all of it except those absolutely hideous dining room chairs, but hey, into every home a little ugly must fall...

Every room appears very comfortable and upbeat. The sofa in the bathroom reminds me of a time when employers provided a sofa in the ladies room for relief on those "crampy" days. ;o) Regarding moving: I wish you all the best in settling in. Be good to yourself and rest now and then. Funny, I've lived in my current house for four and a half years. The other day I wondered where I'd placed a sketch book from my student days in Rome. I finally found it in one of the half dozen boxes in the basement that I'd never unpacked!!!

Wow this design is fabulous! I like the sofa in the powder room look so long as the room is big enough! Wouldn't want the sofa too close to the toilet!

And that cupboard is adorable!

i cannot fathom a settee next to a toilet. that is inherently unsanitary. staph germs are everpresent on bathroom surfaces. it makes no sense to have fabric covered item (that can't be washed) next to a toilet.

love the peacock window covering though. that can be laundered.

(wasn't this home covered in one of the final issues of domino?)

I love the sofa in the powder room, but my favorite thing is the vaulted wood ceiling. It is absolutely gorgeous. I am also totally in love with the white bricks. Nobody else I know likes this look, but I find it incredible chic.

The sofa in the powder room will make me want to be there that often each day. It feels so relaxing and If I get inside I might just wanna take a nap first before I get out of the room :)
