John Merkl

When Julie from my favourite blog Remodelista emailed to let me know about a great photographer she worked with in Mill Valley recently I rushed to click on the link. John Merkl takes a clean shot, a beautiful light filled shot, a story telling shot. The images may be well edited, telling just what is necessary to draw you in but that's just what is needed with these contemporary interiors. A focus. (Hah! So he has spot on focus! Couldn't resist the bad pun sorry.)

LOVE the little arrangement on the small table. I'm always a fan of framed pictures not on walls....when I was living in rentals you weren't allowed to put holes in the walls. I used to balance my pictures on top of piles of books, window sills and tables, and I still do, habits, habits.

'Story telling' is exactly right, that's what so prevalent here in these photos.

Lovely shots and some great small space ideas as well - love the high chair nook between the shelving and the big red R and the window seats.

I'm in <3 with the kitchen on the 5th photo.

I like the first pictures, they are like the homes Hitchcock movies!

I'm loving how he photographed the space in photo #4 - how it frames the window. Looooove that window.

This is the perfect house for me. I hope I can get my new apartment to look like this in some way.
