Desert Nomad House

Desert and man-made. Inside and out. Vastness and intimacy. Modern and ancient. Desert retreat, museum and home. It's about location and built environment. Light and shade. A dichotomy of design. Looking in, looking out. Texture, materials and art ... oh the art. The Melanesian statues are to die for. Three steel and glass cubes by Rick Joy Architects, the Desert Nomad House, Tucson, Arizona is listed for sale here.

This house looks like a sculpture in its own right!

The twilight shots are fabulous as are the interiors..I could never live in such surroundings though..have a lovely new week..xx meenal

"Looking in, looking out." Yes, LOL! Great home though. I don't think I'd be able to live among the creepy crawlies of the desert, but it's sure nice to look at!

I like it a lot but I would prefer if it were to blend more with its surroundings. It looks a little like it was left there by mistake. Perhaps a different exterior colour or material. Apart from that it is terrific.

I wish I could say "wow" in more than one language. Although different than it's environment, it is a striking compliment to the hazy colours and arid harshness of the desert. Both the unadorned and simple exterior and interior are a sigh of relief considering the potential upkeep issues of many other materials. It would be an amazing and peaceful retreat. 6-49, smile down upon me!

Visually speaking, it is stunning. Realistically...don't know if I would be able to live in such a setting/house.

You have huge glass south facing windows, in the desert. How hot does it get in there?
