Stalking a suburban tardis

Doctor Who fans will know the secret of the tardis. Bigger on the inside than it appears on the out. Who could imagine such high open spaces could be lurking behind this narrow single fronted house in Port Melbourne? A clever extension lifts the space to follow the roof pitch and seamlessly melds the inside and out. Features that speak to me are the  two "open" bathrooms, the way light is brought into the centre of the house through a series of pitched skylights and a clever open garden room. Link here while it lasts.

Wowzers! Tardis indeed. Yes, please...I can move right in. My only quibble would be the overly sleek, stark kitchen but I'm sure that could be remedied fairly easily. All I can say regarding the rest of it is "yes, please".

Wow, this house is pretty cool! I couldn't believe that there is so much space inside.

This house was on the front cover of October 2010 Australian House & Garden and also had an 8 page article on how they went about renovating it. I love it!

Absolutely divine!

WOW! Like the high ceiling and the bright, fresh, clean, open and spacious feel of this place interesting how small it looks from the outside but large inside thanks for sharing these pics!

Astounding! It is so totally TARDIS like, yet I'm certain the TARDIS nev looked so good!

This is impressive. Would love to see the before shots. I wouldn't expect it to be so spacious nor so modern.

I adore this house! I even love the staging. I love the kitchen, especially the lighted bar. Also love the bathroom and garden. I could move in and not change a thing.

Hi Stacey,

My Honey and I have a little house like this in Melbourne, Australia. It's small but on a long yet very narrow lot (think shot-gun house). I've been thinking about how we can decorate/renovate it when we live in Oz, and this is wonderful inspiration. I don't think I would go quite as modern, but it's nice to see what I can do with the house.

Lovely. But is it just me, or is that toilet VERY small?

This home is gorgeous I love how they've bought the outside in with the glass walls and views of the greenery outside. I want a bathroom with a view like that!

Oh my! Look at those floorboards! And I love the ceiling - its almost like a church in its loftiness and serenity. Looks like a very calming place to live. I love a bit more shambles and rough edges (ties in to my obsession with warehouse conversions) but this place is truly beautiful.

This house lacks consistency. It is a Victorian shotgun on the outside and a modern nightmare inside.

oooooo aaaaaaah

Wow. I am a fan of this owner and designer. thats phenomenal work. and I bet no one would even think to break in from the front of it. lol.

Can't imagine myself living in it...I love the concept, the plants and everything...

That house must be 200ft long. An aerial shot would give a better impression. Nice house though.
