Gardener & Marks

Relaxed and chic, faded and fabulous. Old and new, vintage with industrial, shabby with found and natural. Even though some of these pictures have popped up on Desire to Inspire over the years I can't believe we've never focused on the design duo of Lyn Gardener and Amanda Henderson-Marks of Gardener & Marks. Time to right that oversight today. Bowerbirds of style.

I love so many of these pictures, for the floorboards, for the pages pinned to the walls, for the practical kitchen island combined with the chandelier - but oh, that first picture! The chairs backed against the walls when they are so obviously *not* wall chairs, just looking so very wrong. Take them out, you have a beautiful set-up.

Ignore the first comment about the chairs. This is very nice. I wouldn't change a thing in your place.

I like the eclectic feel of it all.

Stylish... I like these monochromatic, all-white interiors. Nostalgic :)

I'm not usually a fan of farmhouse style ... but I love that all white kitchen! Simply gorgeous!

one more look - I really don't like tubs in the middle of a room, just my own preference

Despite the fact that I live in a 1700 sq foot loft, the photo "Lyn14.jpg" makes me wish I lived in a studio again ... if it was set up just like that (maybe different colors; otherwise, just like that!)

So many fab' easily adapted inspirational ideas, no matter where you live or what your budget is.

I really loved everything until I got to the picture of the bedroom with the tub in the middle of the room. My favorite thing about each picture is that it looks like a place where "real" people actually live (stacks of books, baskets of magazines, drawers of the kitchen island are clearly full, dishes on the shelves). I like seeing how my real life could look a little more put together.

Love these floors! If anyone knows how and what to use to create the same floor, please let me know!

I love these photos. Everything looks so inviting and natural. I like the tub in the bedroom (perhaps not the most practical of designs, but I like the whimsy). As for photo #1, I respectfully disagree with Oregonbird. I think it makes very good use of a potentially wasted space. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the space looks as though it was orginally a foyer, but because of the furniture placement, it makes for a wonderfully intimate conversation/reading area. I only wish I could visit the place myself to test out my supposition.

I loved the first few photos but once I came to the photos of all the stressed furniture and floors I rolled my eyes. It's beautiful but not utilitarian in the slightest. I grew up with floors boards that distressed and let me tell you they are a total pain to clean and keep up with. Chipping floor board- no thank you. I would prefer sturdier furniture and floors for a better investment- but beautiful just the same.

Adore the furniture choices and the white-washed walls. I too would opt out on the distressed floorboards - the decor is perfect and doesn't need the distraction .

I LOVE the pic with the pink dresser and the word love with the bird cutouts! Beautiful!

What an absolutely lovely space. I love all the collections, the beautiful array of neutrals, and the found objects display in glass jars.
