Dreaming of country

A country bolthole is top of my wish list. An old house with vintage treasures and creature comforts to spend my weekends in. Daydreaming and scheming ways to make the move permanent. Entertaining the constant stream of friends that just happen to be coming up to visit. Winding back on the rat race of life but not winding back on style. Interior designer Chelsea Hing read my mind and made my dreams come true. Sadly this Kyneton, Victoria house belongs to someone else. But at least my dreams have form now.

You can see my previous post on Chelsea here and the news is that she has just started blogging!

Oh my...I thought the kitchen had me at hello...but then, that last pic...is that are humongous light bathed walk in pantry on the last picture???? Aaaaah! A woman can dream! What I wouldn't give to trade the black hole I keep my pantry items in for this beauty...

that Kitchen is gorgeous but the sink is small and right up against the wall and a pantry is supposed to be extra space not kichen space a room away..... anyone else notice that sink and wonder why it isn't three times bigger, how frustrating that would be, must have been designed by a man or a non cook

I really like the use of simple roller shades in the kitchen and tub area...country doesn't have to be fussy. Little details like that are what make a room feel so right. I also like the extra surface beyond the sink to place things like flowers. Thanks for the post!

I noticed the small sink, too, which I feel is too close to the right wall and dwarfed by the huge stove. It looks like it has eight burners. If you need eight burners, you probably have enough clean-up to need more sink space. I also wonder about keeping the windows behind the stove clean with all that cooking. Other than that. I LOVE it.

I was thinking about the impossibility of keeping grease off the windows and shades, too. And where are the pots and pans? Gorgeous but impractical.

I would love to cook in this kitchen.

I too am intrigued by the window behind the stove. I notice in the second to last picture there is space between the window and stove. Six inches? More? Does this extra space solve heat problems with the window? Or does the huge exhaust take care of it all? In any case it is lovely.

What a lovely fresh palette. I'm not a huge fan of cooking in front of the window... The heat would be an issue I'm sure. Plus the grease and oil splatter would make it a window you'd have to clean constantly. Perhaps the owner doesn't have any kids and has plenty of time for cleaning windows ;)
Other than that, a lovely home.

What a lovely home. I keep coming back to look at it again. I love, love, love the combination of somewhat "country" elements with more modern elements. This just might be my ideal style. Can the home owner please come to my house to help me? ;)
