Reader's home - nautical in Russia

Pavel, a reader from Vasilyevsky Island in St. Petersburg, Russia, emailed us with a link to an article of his home featured in The Village. The apartment he shares with his wife and daughter has 4 rooms, and is 105. They project managed the renovations of their apartment, and came up with a nautical theme for the decor, as they are big fans of yachting. They've got quite a collection of fantastic artwork...and still have wall space they want to fill. They've done a wonderful job, and I'm especially fond of the kitchen. I've always been a fan of those Ikea freestanding units.

Love all that open storage!

Amazing! What an intelligent use if the spaces. The rooms look long and narrow and could be quite tricky to furnish. I think that white walls are often underrated, this flat looks cosy and inviting. I like it very much.

It's a home, not a set, which gives it extra points for me. The track lighting is way 70's, but the aluminum danglies make up for that... oh, never mind, I do like the track lighting, it's so in-your-face! The kitchen is good, but the dining area is wonderful -- very cafe, breezy. I love that the art is hung so low in the baby's room, the use of primary colors against sophistication. There's a real sense of space, but on its own terms. Liveable, very liveable.

The kitchen is a crowning achievement! It's expertly designed and also livable! Gorgeous work. Thanks for sharing!
