Reader's home - Beth's mid-century transformation

It's so much fun to see what a little paint, blood sweat and tears can do to a home that desperately needs an update. Beth sent us some before and after photos of her home that she's been slaving over for the past year and I am in awe of the transformation. It is now much more modern slathered in white paint, and the kitchen renovation is a ridiculously effective update for not much cash. She's clearly a fan of mid-century modern design so that's a bonus in my book. Here are a few before photos to get you started.

Hold on to your hats folks! Here's what Beth's home looks like now...

Wow! What a difference!

I love it! Love the clean lines, muted colors and modern furniture. Hopefully they can do the same for their yard!

A fantastic transformation! So fresh & light.
Asides: Logs make great side tables...and I never realized Oregon was such a rectangle. :)
Really lovely home Beth.

I keep flicking between the before and after kitchen photos. The transformation is incredible. I love that she used so much of what was already there - in such a clever way. Inspirational!.

Pam: yes, I'm hoping I can do the same for my yard too! It's next on my list of things to tackle and I plan on doing exterior painting in the spring. I have lots of (mostly modern) ideas for the exterior but worry about keeping with the character of the home and neighbourhood.

Amazing! So happy to see an after post. I love all the white! Also love your sparse style. The dog is too cute!

I would LUV to know where the blue 1 1/2 chair is from. I've been searching, searching! And it looks great!

Dana: it's the Harnosand chair from IKEA.

Don: you're more than welcome to follow along at my blog, I post my progress there.

The house moved from the Northwest to Scandinavia. Beautiful! Just enough mid-century to build a bridge between the early 1900's and modern times. I was surprised to see pale wood in the bathroom, rather than the warm wood you've used elsewhere. Like everyone else, love the vibe! Are you in search of one perfect artwork for the kitchen?

Beaut. I love the simple round light fittings in the lounge and upstairs landing…

Love it. simple yet elegant!

What's the paint colour on the wall going up the stairs?

19 Feb 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMark

Mark: The paint in the kitchen/hallways is Benjamin Moores Grey Owl.

I love the light by the blue "reading" chair. Can you share where you got that? Thanks!
