Gari Camaisa

I found an email in my inbox yesterday titled "SHAMELESS PLUG" and I had to laugh. I mean, why waste time beating around the bush? It was from Gari who wanted to show some of his interior design work for his firm Jugendstil Designs. After a quick peek at his Flickr photos, I was quite impressed and delighted to plug his work. The photos included modern, retro and traditional. He does it all...and does it REALLY WELL. I've included my favourites below, but there are many more photos here. (It seems I must really like Gari's work - it appears I have posted his work once before).

Also, check out Edit Furnishings, the firm's online furniture shop that carries the most incredible, drool-worthy mid-century chairs.

Sylvie Becquet

Sylvie Becquet is another photographer I discovered in my internet travels. The photos on her website have such a wonderful simplicity to them, which draws your attention to the details of the objects featured and the quality of lighting in each photo.

Alan Tanksley

Alan Tanksley is reknowned for his expert use of colour, shimmering palettes that relax and excite. Modern sensibilities mix with the classical and traditional. Colours , textures and innovative materials are mixed in an understated but luxurious way.

Classic Queenslander

I can across this wonderful house while checking the local real estate online. From the outside it’s a great example of a late 19th century Queensland house, wide timber tongue and groove walls, lovely pine floors and verandas to provide shade from the hot tropical sun. Inside it’s a sensitive modern upgrade that respects its heritage but has that wow factor. A central corridor with rooms on either side is typical of these houses. It helps funnel any breezes through the house. Homes were often raised off the ground to also allow the air to circulate. Here the under house space is taken up by more bedrooms and a massive games room. And the asking price? $2.69 million. It’s in a great suburb, has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a pool but it lets you know just how outrageous prices have become in my neck of the woods. Lovely …. but I’m just dreaming.

Mary McDonald

Mary McDonald is an interior designer out of Los Angeles and I adore her ethnic/eclectic style and use of intense colours and patterns. Her work has been featured on the cover of House Beautiful, House & Garden and Domino. "Through extensive travel throughout Europe and the Far East, she has created a personal signature that is eclectic, classic and clean. Her ability to combine European antiques, Chinoisery, and Indian influences, with Contemporary lines and an impeccable sense of color have made her one of the most sought after interior designers in Los Angeles."
