Camille Hermand Architectures

A sweet little piece of Parisian architectural candy. Ornate touches to the ceilings, old wooden floors and scrolly iron work on the balcony. Beautiful bones juxtaposed with midcentury and modern. Then bam! Colourful riot on the wall. A little pastille of perfection by Camille Hermande Architectures.

now this is narrow

I am always intrigued by narrow homes as I live in one and wish it wasn't, so it's always interesting to see how people design around narrow spaces and how homeowners cope. FORM / Kouichi Kimura Architects managed to build a minimal masterpiece on a piece of land that is 4m by 35 m, making it a total of 2.7 m wide and 27 m long. I love all the grey - on the exterior and in the gorgeous hardwood and concrete flooring. Soft walls made of curtains are brilliant to keep the space from being too cold, and are great space savers. I'd certainly be taking cues from this home if I had to build a narrow home when rebuilding (thankfully my lot is "normal" size). (Thx Aimee!)

Summer Thornton encore

Is it really five years since we were introduced to the work of Summer Thornton on Desire to Inspire? As is my habit I'll skip back and forward through our archives and click over to websites to see what the designers and photographers, stylists and architects have been up to since we last visited. Imagine the smile that spread across my face when I revisited Summer Thornton Design and discovered her take on the bachelor pad. Masculine and multilayered, elegant yet casual when needed. A touch of humour and bucket loads of style.

Beth Coller

She describes herself as Los Angeles based Portrait and Interiors Photographer. I describe her as genius. Her work is crisp and simple yet packed with everything you need to know. Or should I say everything you need to covet especially if your thing is retro. Beautiful use of positive and negative space and colour as punctuation point. Take me away to a retrolicious land Beth Coller.
