Lee Ledbetter of Louisiana is a phenomenal architect that I've been a fan of since my post back in '07. He has designed many more magnificent homes in the last few years, including what is clearly the home of an art collector. Really classy spaces perfectly designed to show off fabulous art and furnishings.
I am a HUGE fan of photography as art - the graphic nature of it, the realism, the fact that if you can take a decent photo it's an easy DIY art project, you can blow them up to make statement pieces. Black and white photography can be beautiful in any space in your home. Whether hung in large groups, enlarged or simply a subject that really draws you in (there are a few quirky ones below), it's eye catching and honestly, it's pretty tough to screw up. I'd love to have a family gallery wall in the near future, consisting of a row of 9 black and white photos - one of myself, my husband, and each of our cats. :)
Here are more goodies care of Jordan Carlyle that are sure to please if post #1 got you all hot and bothered. This first set of photos are I believe from Jordan's old apartment. LOVE the artwork, despite it being a serious boob-fest, and the sophisticated vibe. Following that is an apartment on West 21st St. that is a little less glam but has Jordan's signature HOT style.
Saturdays are normally about helping readers with their design dilemmas. Today, instead, it is all about a wonderful retreat in an exotic location, full of creativity and it's a reader's home. Maureen Booth is a painter and print maker who lives just outside Granada, Spain in paradise ....in a chicken coop. Well her guests actually live in the coop. This bijou building is an artist's and writer's retreat.
"Yes, it was a chicken coop. After that it was a dog kennel, then a painting studio, then it was a junk room for years before we got around to enlarging it, re-roofing it and renovating it. Artists love it, both for the peace, the atmosphere and the five-meter-long workspace."

West London estate agents Domus Nova sent along photos of some of their latest properties. Here's one that caught my eye - for obvious reasons. A spectacular maisonette with a very imaginative interior design, comprising over 2000 square feet. The property is the perfect party pad, from the bar space to the beautiful Brigitte Bardot adorned walls (photography by Terry O’Neill). Each space is different, take the eccentric style of the reception space which showcases an eclectic collection of armchairs, beautiful chandeliers, black painted walls and white polished wood floors. The owner’s passion for art and photography is evident simply by her collection of books. The rest of the property is almost fantastical, the owner has the most wonderful assortment of lights fixtures including a disco ball over the stairs. The bathrooms are a work of art themselves; a beautiful fairy-tale boudoir and a heavy pink and black striped space. The epitome of British quirk!
