A renovated home in black and white

This home in Winnipeg, Manitoba was given a main floor renovation and Jaclyn Peters gave the space a modern and minimalist makeover with an earthy vibe that I love. We started with oiled white oak hardwood flooring and a neutral color palette.  The kitchen was completely gutted including the builder basic corner pantry and the breakfast nook was utilized to create space for a new large island topped with Quartz countertops and seating for 5. We added two floating white oak shelves for warmth and texture, then a classic white subway tile backsplash and industrial lighting by Schoolhouse Electric. Two windows flanking the new marble fireplace surround were added to the living room, as well as custom made white oak floating cabinets and a custom media stand.  All new furniture, rugs and accessories create a cozy space to entertain. The Scandinavian inspired powder bath features charcoal slate tile, black millwork, white quartz counters, black pendant light and more art from the homeowner's collection.

Dark and light in a modern apartment

This renovated 3 bedroom apartment in Sydney, Australia is sleek and modern with a black and white colour scheme. This combination makes for a very chic and dramatic pad. The open concept space is punctuated with a kitchen design that I absolutely love - as much as I love a fabulous kitchen, it's even more fabuolus when it doesn't really look like a kitchen at first glance (I thought it was a dressing room!). Monochrome mastery

It's Scandi monochrome done right. A stark, limited palette warmed by exposed brick accents and a rug of muted jewel colours. As for the piano! Love it. Private residence by Helsinki-based interior designer Laura Seppänen.
