My new sofa

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned on my page that I bought a new sofa, because my husband and I were sick and tired of the DIY sofa he built that we've been using for the last few years. I think the new sofa is pretty funky and will go with the theme I want for the new house we are hoping to build next year. Here is the photo I snapped at the store.

I LOVE brown leather that looks better with age, and this one I hope will age beautifully. We had it delivered a few days after purchasing it, and I had Friday off so I prettied up the living room and took some photos. Now, it's a bit of a large sofa for our tiny living room but I don't care, as we hope to not be in this house much longer, and it's SO much more comfortable than the last one. I re-decorated the space with items I had around the house, because I don't want to purchase any more stuff (I have too much crap!) until the new house. I thought the space above the sofa, while empty all this time, kind of looked bare (maybe I'm just tiring of my forest mural) so I found 2 pieces to hang there. Not ideal but the wall was making me crazy sans art. Eventually I'd love maybe some Australian aboriginal art (in black and white) above it. Anyhoo, here it is.

Small space ideas

My brother-in-law Dave sent me a link to a really cool office warehouse makeover in Brazil. It's the office of a sports marketing company and they asked architect Simone Tasca to work some magic. Some very clever ideas were introduced that are awesome for folks dealing with small spaces. First, there is the lounge room, with seating made up of painted pallets (and on the wall to hang the TV).

Then there's the dining room with an expandable dining table created by 2 tables of almost the same size on casters where one has it's legs cut slightly shorter so it can roll under the other. LOVE THAT!

This bathroom is adorable. A whole bunch of mirrors for visual interest, a concrete slab (?) counter made to fit in an awkward corner and a pail for a sink. Industrial chic! (Love that wall-mount faucet!)

Their site is a must-read, and in particular this story that features the home of Kelli Crawford and her AMAZING couch. It's gorgeous. I think I'm in love. 

Reader request - sectional sofas

Today's reader request comes from Agata: I am 30 year's old polish girl leaving in Norway. Together with my husband, we're thinking of building a house. We don't have a land and a house yet, but for the moment I am concentrating on floors and sofas. Don't ask me why - just because :> And here is the best lime green color I have found so far for my best ever sofa :> The above sofa is not the size and shape I desire. I would like to have a huuuuuge lime green (not leather) sofa. And that lead me to idea of asking You girls of writing  a nice post about huge / corner not-too-much-sophisticated but practical sofas. I am REALLY hoping to be able to fit a sectional sofa in my new living room (when it's built) so I was stoked to search these out in my huge stash of photos. Since Agatha mentioned lime, huge and corner I tried to find photos with sofas in that combination (but only found a few in lime). The first photo caught my eye but it turned out to not be a sectional....but I adore the space and colours in particular so I had to include it.
