Dobrodošli u Prugu

All the hard work is done. The doors are open. Guests are arriving. Welcome to Pruga, two acres of peace and quiet and bed and breakfast. After many years in the UK, Andrijana and Vanja returned to Croatia, to the idyllic countryside of Istria, to just outside the tiny village of Lovrinići. Blood, sweat and tears and finally they created a beautiful stone building containing two apartments for guests, a lovely pool for hot summer days and all the tranquility one could want. Oh and the bars and restaurants that abound in this part of Croatia. More on their website and you can follow their progress on their blog.

DAR612

Contemporary architecture from Croatia. Family run firm DAR612 create family homes. From concept to completion the approach is holistic and the resulting homes all about shared space. Today I am featuring two apartment renovations that put the client, families, in the centre of the design. The family home is a stage for the rituals of everyday life, to share the precious times without being "precious" or over conceived. Bright, liveable, fun and friendly. A great canvas for the family's personality. Although I'm concentrating on interiors today (this is an interiors blog remember) don't miss their new build family homes for more inspiration.

A German home (from a Croatian magazine)

Here is a peek at a home once again from Croatian magazine moja 4 zida (Thanks again Sanja!). This one is actually located in the Bavarian hills of Germany and designed by architects Ippolito Fleitz Group. The views are incredible and easily enjoyed through huge windows. (Photos: Bruno Helbling)

From Croatia

A reader named Sanja from Croatia emailed the other day with a link to her blog where she frequently features Croatian interiors. I love to see decor from different countries around the world and thought I'd share some spaces from Croatian magazine moja 4 zida that she has featured homes from on her blog. This first loft is located in Zagreb and is the home of interior designer Mirena Skoric. Love the bold turquoise sofa! (Photos: Frane Fabris)

I'm not sure where this next home is located but I LOVE the raw, warehouse-like shell and white painted brick/cement walls. And I must mention the inset patch of hardwood in the cement floor. Gorgeous!! (Photos: Guliver/Inside Photo)
