A renovated farmhouse in South Africa

This is a beautiful 1840's Cape Dutch farmhouse located in South Africa. I am totally smitten with its neutral decor and all the wood floors and beamed ceilings throughout. I could go on about it but I am slightly drunk (I'm writing this Saturday night) having spent a few hours hanging out at a Legion with some of my favourite people on this planet and it's got me thinking (I clearly don't drink much). I have a love affair with interior design (also pretty clear as Jo and I have had this blog for over 10 years) but this past week has really done a number on me. Hanging out at the Country Cat Sanctuary last Sunday whilst managing not to bring home any cats and staying late at work every day this past week with each day being more hellish than the next, and managing to find time on Wednesday evening to go see Kedi at the movie theatre which, being the crazy cat lady that I am, really moved me, and going to a vintage show yesterday and finally leaving 5 hours later where I got to meet some awesome new people (and one vendor I was hoping to visit with was at the hospital with a bleed in her brain) and spend some quality time having drinks with the always fabulous ladies of social enterprise HighJinx whose lives are devoted to helping others....it just makes me stop and think about the important things in life. I am grateful for this blog and this community and my passion for design. So enjoy these wonderful photos of Herbertsdale Farmhouse, and I hope it inspires you. Via VISI. (Photos: Jan Ras)

The Farmhouse at Wilderness Reserve

Wilderness Reserve consists of 5,000 acres of gorgeous landscape in Suffolk, England containing a unique collection of restored manors, cottages, a farmhouse - all available to book for what would be a very unique stay. I am completely smitten with the Farmhouse. Formerly the estate's home farm and without doubt its oldest property, the Farmhouse sits in the heart of the hamlet within the estate's Arcadian pleasure grounds. Downstairs, the central triple-height hall opens up to a beamed sitting room with comfy sofas, inglenook fireplace and fluffy throws as well as the large kitchen & dining room. Two of the six en suite bedrooms are the on the ground floor and the rest are discovered up an oak staircase with its bridge across the hall. Everything here is SO pretty! That pink!!!! (Thanks for the link Edward!)

A country farmhouse inspired by Ibiza

Dream home people! DREAM. HOME. Built in 1900, this country farmhouse wasn't in terrible condition upon purchase two years ago it but was definitely in need of work, including full kitchen and master bathroom renovations. The original features of the house were preserved where possible: wood floors, fireplaces, and exposed structural beams in the kitchen are all put on display. New cement tile in the foyer along with natural stone tile floors in the kitchen were added. Inspired by the clean, rustic style typical of the architecture of Ibiza, the kitchen cabinets are custom-made tadelakt with reclaimed wood doors, both features enhancing the history of the home while allowing the comfortable, modern lines and light texture of NF Interiors signature style to sing. Moving upstairs, one of the bedrooms was reworked as a luxurious master bath, serving both bedrooms on the top floor. Custom plaster-finished walls, natural stone floors, and a marble and bronze vanity enhance the bucolic feeling of this serene sanctuary.

Magic egg farmhouse

If you asked me what type of home I would want to live in for the rest of my life if I had to choose one, this is my answer. This home and everything in it. A late-18th-century farmhouse tucked away in 167 acres of fields and forest, complete with a barn, pool, pond, and tennis court. Over its many years the house has seen plenty of renovations and, we can only imagine, has lived just as many lives. Its most recent iteration featured a rainbow’s array of wall colors and strange furniture choices. It was immediately clear that all that needed to go, and that we’d basically need to start from scratch, while keeping just a few old details like the wide-plank floors and rich chestnut paneling. Such a relaxing, serene environment filled with all the wonderful textures and neutral tones you would expect in your dream farmhouse. By Jersey Ice Cream Co. (Previous feature here)
