Lisa Kauffman Tharp

A mix of farmhouse, nautical and a touch of industrial loft. Neutrals married with textures, dappled sunlight filling bright friendly rooms, kitchen and bedroom alike. A fresh take on classic design. Modern with a rustic twist. Beautiful rooms by interior designer Lisa Kauffman Tharp. She calls it barefoot simplicity, casual elegance.

Reader's home - nautical in Russia

Pavel, a reader from Vasilyevsky Island in St. Petersburg, Russia, emailed us with a link to an article of his home featured in The Village. The apartment he shares with his wife and daughter has 4 rooms, and is 105. They project managed the renovations of their apartment, and came up with a nautical theme for the decor, as they are big fans of yachting. They've got quite a collection of fantastic artwork...and still have wall space they want to fill. They've done a wonderful job, and I'm especially fond of the kitchen. I've always been a fan of those Ikea freestanding units.

Lake house

The latest issue of Pure Green Magazine, is now available online (and FYI, it's launching in print in November!!) and the folks at the mag kindly sent over a whole bunch of photos of the gorgeous Muskoka lake house that is featured this month. It's the former summer home and now permanent residence of retired couple Donna and John Taylor that was built in the 1900's. Filled with finds from antique markets, it's got a wonderful casual and nautical vibe that is perfect for the surroundings. {All images copyright Pure Green Magazine; photography: Ever Images Photography}

Beach stalking 1

Monday morning has come and gone in Australia (I'm always 14 hours ahead of Kim) and I had a severe case of Monday-itis. I must have suspected that that would be the case when I loaded pictures for my posts for the week on Sunday (yes I was that organised). I've been stalking seaside resorts. I think I needed to wake up in this Pearl Beach house. Only meters from the beach north of Sydney it comprises 2 pavilions combined by an outdoor dining area. Looks like plenty of room for everyone else suffering from Monday-itis. We could start a support group ... on Tuesday. Link here while it lasts. P.S. The real estate blurb says it belongs to an interior designer. Any idea who?
