Some beauty amidst the chaos

Over the weekend I did something I have wanted (and needed) to do for a long time. I bought an iMac. It's my first Mac and while the most beautiful piece of technology on the planet, I want to pull my hair out as I have no freaking idea how to do anything. With a programming background and someone who spends every waking moment on a computer (it seems), this is super duper frustrating and is going to take some time to get used to. I set myself up in the non-insulated office at the back of my house now that the weather is getting warmer and I snapped a couple pics of the thrown-together space which I hope to stick up on my page in the near future. Since I don't have all the programs I need up and running yet, my posts may not be as frequent this week as I would like. Anyhoo, I managed to get some photos ready for this post (without too much of a disaster) that I found in the portfolio of Swedish stylist Saša Antić. He has a great eye for detail and creates magazine-worthy vignettes - go figure as he's styled for all of my favourite Swedish and British mags.

Opposite ends of the spectrum

Both of these homes have been featured lately in Residence magazine and I wanted to blog one, then the other, no the first one, but what about the second....so what the hell I'll blog both. Both homes are gorgeous, the first because of the soothing and earthy neutral palette and the second because of the bold colour scheme and modern vibe. I want my home to look like the first, and then I need to win the lottery so the cottage I would then buy could look like the second. :) (Photos by Carl Dahlstedt)

Swedish real estate stalking

I have been siiiiiiiiiick all weekend and have zero energy to do all the things I need to get done - including blogging. So I thought instead of spending lots of time scouring blogland for my weekly favs, I would instead share this awesome Swedish apartment with you today. Hope you're all having a better weekend than I am, one not involving an entire box of tissue and coughing up a couple lungs.

Home of a collector

Thanks to Carl-Johan for sending us this link to the Swedish home of Peter Pluntkys, an antiquities expert and regular on the Swedish version of "Antiques Roadshow". I love the quirkiness of this home, and the fact that the owners believe their home should still be practical (and not a museum), where everything can be used.
