A renovated 1940's home in Seattle

When unexpected styles collide. A fabulous home designed by Seattle-based Brio Interior Design. A 1940's home where the client's mother spent her teenage years was purchased from the grandfather's estate shortly after his passing. The purchase and renovation were a way to reinvent history by making an old home new again for the young family who decided the house carried too many precious memories to be sold to the next highest bidder. Perched atop a generously sized waterfront lot in north Seattle with panoramic views of the Puget Sound, the Olympic Peninsula and Olympic mountain range, the aesthetic of the home is classic meets modern and eclectic. It's fun, colorful and whimsical. Perfect for a family that dines most days together in a formal dining room around a table that family members have gathered at for decades to celebrate the best things in life.

Classic yellow

South African design firm Jacket Interiors "marries comfort and functionality with beauty and style in contemporary designs born out of timelessly classic tastes." A definite flair and restrained elegance, carefully collected and curated, simple, liveable luxury. But perhaps it is the hero of the design, the bold choice of yellow as the statement colour that makes the house so memorable.

Give me this lovely home by Kelly and Co. Design.

The Chequit

Is it just me or is this week d-r-a-g-g-i-n-g along? I just can't take anymore. Time for a virtual getaway and since summer has just begun in the northern hemisphere how about we run away to the Hamptons? To Shelter Island to be precise. I've booked us into the quaint but cool boutique inn The Chequit. Trad with a twist and a soothing pink, yellow and grey palette ... inside that is. The exterior screams summer in simple white and green, its porches filled with wicker furniture and pops of bright colour.

A traditional home by Tammy Connor

A little bit of traditional to end off the work week. This home designed by South Carolina/Alabama based Tammy Connor is exquisite, carefully curated yet inviting and that is the traditional I enjoy. I am trying to decide what I love more - that foyer with the painted mural or the dining spaces. I am dying over those upholstered dining chairs - would love to see them against a weathered harvest table. Yum!
