I have always had a love for dark and dramatic interiors and find that the bright/warm/neutral trend seems to overwhelmingly be the norm these days. So hats off to Brianne Bishop Design for this modern, moody, grey, dramatic design for a new build in Bucktown, Chicago. Edgy and fabulous.

One thing I absolutely detest in this city is how all new builds are designed to look modern regardless of the neighbourhood and surrounding architecture. I love that this home is a new build and was designed to look like an English village, despite being located in Austin, Texas. And the result is bright (except the kitchen – which is WOW) and inviting and beautiful inside and out. Designed by Fern Santini. Austin in Stereo is a 7,300 sq ft, 4 bedroom home in West Austin where nearly every room of the house was designed by Fern Santini with a unique art or music-themed element. A bar, turntable, Sonos speakers, signed photos of music legends, Woodstock wallpaper, lots of dark walls and graphic patterns make this a really stylin’ and party-ready home. My love of all things dark. moody and full of texture and patina with lots of vintage will never ever waiver. And why my love of the style of designer Sean Anderson will also never waiver. When he goes dark he does it so incredibly well, and unlike any other designer I know. This home in Tennessee is packed with character and drama and I could stare at these beautiful spaces for hours. Moody and masculine in New York’s West Village. Deliciously dark and carefully curated with open plan living and private corners. Sophisticated city living. It couldn’t be more of a contrast to the Southampton home I just featured but it’s by the same über talented designer Mark Cunningham.
