When space is at a premium in places like Paris, I love seeing how designers and architects use their creativity to maximize space and create storage. This Paris apartment isn’t very small (124 m²) but the amount of storage in each room makes me very envious (having lived in old homes with either no closets or tiny ones for many years). Mid-century sensitivities, outside in living and a killer collection of art and furniture. Amidst a sea of beige this East Hampton mid-century modern home by New York-based David Scott Interiors is visually refreshing and extremely functional.

The Atelier Davis team worked with Gustave Carlson Architects to renovate and expand a historic Eichler for a young family with a modern art collection.  Bright, colourful and fun staying true to the Eichler bones but adding the owners’ personalities. Mid-century modern never looked so good.

“A complete interior and exterior remodel of a Paul Sterling Hoag home in Los Angeles, California. Restrained yet warm, we began calling this gem the ‘Zen Treehouse’ because of its treeline views and great vibes. The interior floor plan and finishes were reimagined to reflect a modern-day aesthetic while continuing to pay respect to Hoag’s iconic architecture.”

We have been featuring the work of renowned photographer Graham Atkins-Hughes for many years and I was delighted to hear from him the other day. He wanted to share the home he recently purchased and renovated (it was in quite a state when he bought it, and there are before photos at the end of this post). It is a triplex apartment in Hackney, East London that is available for photo shoots and features some retro vintage furnishings that has always been his signature style. Graham’s new home is fabulous with a kitchen that is now modern and filled with light from 2 large windows, a luxurious master bedroom with en-suite, a gorgeous modern bathroom tiled with large format tiles resembling polished concrete with corner bath (looove!!!!) and a lofty bedroom that also has great windows.

He’s done such an incredible job with this home, getting rid of the bland and ugly and creating a cool, vintage-vibing place. I had to share some of the before photos given the condition it was in which shows how much of a project this was. Great job Graham!!!
