Monday’s pets on furniture – part 2

Posted on Mon, 13 Feb 2012 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet!)

This is Pocket. He’s got a rough life.
– Ken

This is my Boston terrier LuLu, perched on my old high chair.  I had salvaged it from my parents’ house when they retired and repainted it to match my home office.
– Beth (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)

This here is my 2 year old baby boy Chicken making himself at home up on my Laura Ashley bed. He was sleeping moments before this photo was taken, however those big ears hear everything making it almost impossible to sneak up on him to take a picture.
– Carla (Sydney)

The puppy called greta and is the baby of the family!
– Martina (Pigue, Argentina)

Here go two of my pets. Ferrugem – that means rust, in portuguese – loves plants. Frodo – he has fluffy feet – is very lazy and loves a hammock.
– Ludmila (Rio de Janeiro)

Elke @10weeks – German wire haired pointer, dozing/posing on her Shell chair.
– David (Manly NSW)

this is frank kamp.. hangin’ around on his very own stool. easy as always.
– Franzi (Hamburg)

I’m an avid follower and would like to offer a photo of my boy “Guy” on one of my favorite pillows (his too obviously… 🙂 I realize it’s not a piece of furniture, but none the less an important element of most living spaces. I call this shot “Glamour Guy” as it is reminiscent of an old Hollywood movie star glamour photo.

It’s a hard knock life for us…”  Greta Garbo & Chico patiently waiting for instructions.  Or should I say treats??
Chad & Pablo (Oxford, Mississippi)
Pls see attached some photos of my two gorgeous cocker spaniels Angus and Hamish sitting on my new fabulous Nook Lounge from Jardan. You can also see my most favourite rug from Armadillo and Co which sits beautifully next to my Nook.
Catherine

This is Kayli on my desk. She was a stray that showed up at our front door a few months ago. We just knew we would have to find her a new home since my husband is very allergic to (most) cats…it has been over three months now and he has had no allergies whatsoever. Guess it was meant to be!!!
– Kim (Little Rock, Arkansas)

I have a few (lol)  super cute pics of my dog, Murphy!
Kirsten (Malibu, CA)

I gave up telling her she shouldn’t be on the chair… Now this piece of furniture is basically hers!
– Vanessa (Brazil)

This is Miss Ikegami.  We bought a set of chairs years ago and she claimed one as her own.  If you sit in it, she will come over to you and meow at you until you get off.  Then she will jump on to the chair and hold court. She never sits on the other chair in the set!
– Debra (Seattle, WA)

These are our adorable mutts, Remley (left) and Sammy (right). They love to run around, cause mischief, and take over whatever piece of furniture they can find when we’re not looking…or in this case, when we ARE looking!

This is one of my sons, his name is Lotus.
– Paulo (Brazil)
This is Charlie Bang. He is half Cairn Terrier and half King Charles Cavilier Spainel ( for those who are interested.) He usually sits on the sofa proper, not the back, but that day he was introduced to the vacuum cleaner and was not amused. As he is only 8 months, i am sure he just needs a little time.
– Natasha (Copenhagen, DK)
Maxie on her couch.
– Surrey

Sumo likes to lounge on a leather ottoman that was purchased at the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. She skirts the house rule forbidding cats on ikat on a technicality by finding a box of paperwork to lie in.
– Heather (Washington DC)

This is Isis chilling on our carved wooden cabinet. The cabinet stays at foyer and Isis loves to lay down on it watching the entry door.
– Priscila (Curitiba, Brazil)

My two rescue babies Sam and Meggie lounging on the lanai in the papasan, Ahh sunshine…
– Susan (Fort Myers, FL)

I had a few I thought I would send along 😉
Elizabeth

This is our dog Ollie who has grown up roaming the Italian hills but still likes his home comforts and candlight whilst keeping guard at our front door!
– Lauren (London)

This is our little boston terrier Gus. We all live in San Diego CA. Even though I am a professional photographer and spend the whole day shooting, I still come home, kick off my shoes and take pictures of the cutest dog in the world [I could be a wee bit biased]. Gus makes me smile every day. What else is that dependable!
– Tee
this is gracie my brother’s terrier. i got her to sit still for 5 seconds to take her portrait.
Janelle

Here are a couple of photos of our much loved havanese mix pooch, Lexi.  Our sofa is actually Lexi’s very large dog bed.
– Joy

I had to share this one of our Cali sitting and admiring the backyard on our Ikea dining bench. We have 3 cats and this seems to be their favorite perch: they take their turns to sit on the bench.
Swati (Cleveland, Ohio)

1 – This is not right.  Why is she making me sit here.
2 – Ok I guess I can do this
3 – Ok I’m safe on the 3rd floor.

– Bettina (River Forest, Illinois)

Well this is Winston sitting on my desk chair. This chair was purchased for all of 10 dollars at a thrift store and it has a wonderful wood cane center. I painted the chair Ralph Lauren “polo pony white” and upholstered it in a vintage burlap sack I bought at a tag sale. It’s a really a wonderful chair…. And Winston is pretty great too.
– Sarah (Los Angeles CA)

1 – These are my two poodles Louie (5) and Logan (3) laying on my bed. They think they are humans and are always sitting on some piece of furniture. Sometimes I find them laying in the bed under the covers with their heads on the pillows! People tell me their spoiled, I say their well taken care of 🙂
2- This is logan. Note: He’s on the bed; I’m on the floor…

– Gianna

This is my 6 year old rescued cat, Ellie on one of our 1960’s chairs.

I have some really good news for those who had been following my pleas for a home for the stray cat I rescued. First of all, her new name is Desiree. Wednesday morning I brought Desi to my vets to get spayed. It turned out to be a likely life-saving procedure as she had a really bad infection in her uterus from being unspayed for so long (and this means she is likely around 5, not 2 like the vet initially thought). Unfortunately this procedure also turned her back into the not-so-friendly kitty she was when she wasn’t in heat. The following morning an angel named Wanda drove all the way to Ottawa with her brother (she lives a 6 hour drive away), picked her up at the vets and took her to her new home. This new home is with Wanda and her other kitty named Sushi. I have no doubt that eventually, little miss Desi will become the sweetie I know she can be. I asked Wanda to send along some photos over the weekend and she obliged. The first one is the last photo I took of her, the night before she went off to the vets. The others are of Desi at her new home. Wanda, I cannot thank you enough for giving Desi the home she deserves. You are an amazing person.

I thought I’d show you our 6 month old lab on our furniture!
Melaine

Vince, our big black lab, is a retired seeing eye dog – enjoying his new found life of leisure on our fleecy, plush Clifton sofa.
Laurie (Wellesley, MA)

Attached is a picture of our cat Moo sitting on the back porch at our home in Oakland, CA. My longtime friend and housemate love sitting on our porch in the morning with a cup of coffee and Moo, our scraggly cat that we rescued from the train station.
The second picture is of our Bita (that is just her nickname). Her real name is Lola and she is oh so lovely and white. She perfectly matches our all white and black house. She is sitting on “her” chair – a white, Shabby Chic wicker back chair. She loves to sit here and stare out the window. Unlike Moo, she stays inside because she is far to dainty and delicate to face the cold cold wild.
Two more!

– Jae & Ryane

Here are my three boys, on my favorite vintage orange chair. Early, Fred and Norman can be found snuggled together here all the time.
– Gin (Sacramento, CA)

When we got Eames we had to take a picture of him on his namesake, the Eames Lounge.
Kama

This is Roo hangin’ on the vintage sofa! She’s just a pup, but knows the best seat in the house.
– Kate (Chicago, Il)

Here is a picture of our puppy Tucker at this link below- he is on a chair that we got out of the dumpster and cleaned up – the back of the rattan has a tear in it but we just keep a cashmere throw over that part for now until we figure out how best to fix/modify it.
– Colleen (Bethesda, MD)

wish we could help with the stray, but we are in Cali. And the sofa is full. 🙁

My spoiled poodle, Cesar, and his sister Bijoux.
