Slice of heaven

Dreaming of a heavenly home? A little piece of paradise? How about this converted church in my home town of Brisbane? The living areas are open plan with soaring “cathedral ceilings”. Of course the kitchen is an altar to all things gastronomical. I’m not going to make any baptism jokes about the plunge pool because it’s just so perfect for our subtropical climate. Currently on the market it would be a sin not to buy. 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a cellar room for the altar wine.

yeh, shiniest floors ever?

brings to mind, pic 3 at least, the similar home in movie “Closer”
(shared by the Clive O and J. Roberts characters, but theirs is like a more earthy, subdued tones blend of this place and pics 11-12, the off white minimalist place in the Lawrence Group post below).

we have a few long empty churches/chapels in san francisco CA…some should be auctioned off to the uber fabulous, with the former churches giving proceeds to charities, the others donated to homeless peoples, where they could become photographer sylists to make a living…
just kidding on this last count!

i love this jo! it’s fantastic!!!!!

there are so many such churches around Victoria for sale and i have secretly wanted to redo one… well, not so secret, but think my husband would balk at that challenge… esp if it looks as luxurious (read: needs loads of money) as this one! man. it’s perfect for brisbane, but for Vic, with those high ceilings… we’d be using heaps of rugs 🙂

wow, this interior is absolutely amazing, I love the re-use, it would be difficult to fight the city to re-zone a church but most definitely inspiring to see such a transformation an even better a modern interior … love LOVE this …
– thank you so much JO for the post … the first blog I go after being away from blogging I just had to visit your blog, you 2 are amazing and inspiring – so great to see your blog develop over the months, I feel like I have so much catching up to do … you both with this post have inspired me to go back to blogging again … I’ll work on my first blog post tonight …

What a fabulous place! Love it!

Flora says:

Renovating a church is better than destroying a church !

Leaving in the "House of God" seems to be better to living in a place without soul.

I really would appreciate living in such a beautiful rehabbed church…
