Retro kitchens

There are some things conceived in the 60s that hold their age quite well (ahem, ahem…. I’m a case in point) but there are others that are in serious need of cosmetic surgery or is that a complete gut reno? Here are some interesting to say the least kitchens from the era. OK, OK I could live with one maybe two of these.

Images scanned from The Practical Encyclopedia of Good Decorating and Home Improvement Vol 10, Greystone Press, New York, 1971.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. But really, there are some fab chairs in some of these photos. And I think it’s cute how, in the second-last photo, they used the same wallpaper on the backsplash and the cabinets. The wallpaper is terrible though…looks like splotches of blood.

The kitchens: The all green kitchen, yellow flowery kitchen, wooden like kitchen, 70’z-80’z and all red kitchen is all ugly and not in style. I really like the modern kitchen it’s of what the US knows and is use to seeing now a days.

amazing how style comes back around… i swear i’ve seen similar designs in popular magazines lately… and yeah, the chairs in almost all of them are fantastic.
