White kitchen dilemma

Posted on Mon, 7 Jan 2008 by KiM

My twin sister was talking to a co-worker about his kitchen and it seems he needs a bit of help. Saif has a white kitchen – white cabinets, white countertop, white walls, white EVERYTHING. He’s not sure what to do with it to spice it up. GAWD, I wish that was my only kitchen dilemma. Saif, hope this inspires you to add some colour to your bland kitchen, even if it means just doing something minor(ish) like replacing your countertop.

i did not know you had a twin sister!

Which one to choose? They’re all great!

I do – her name is Julia, and we’re identical. Technically anyway. Guess you don’t poke around my Flickr pics much. 🙂 I just realized I forgot to tell her I posted this so she could show her Saif. OOPS.

oh to have a diamond-check floor and a little bench seat in my kitchen, swoon!

saif – i’d say start with painting and have some bold color plates, bowls, etc. out. it’s amazing how color on the walls can transform the room and it’s cheap and easy to change. you might actually be thankful you’ve got an all white base to work with!

Design Inc. just recently aired the most beautiful white kitchen (http://www.designinc.ca. It’s listed as Patsy’s Kitchen). It’s quite clean and simple with beautiful finishes. If your sister’s coworker has a kitchen in need of updates, then sure, go for it. But if his kitchen is already white perfection, then just add some fun art. I like the light fixtures in a few of the pics you’ve posted. That could be an easy way to add some interest too.

We must be on the same wavelength…I just posted about white kitchens on my blog too 🙂 Like the inspiration pics.

Thanks Kim for posting this for Saif. I got to see pics of his house today and it is GORGEOUS. He just moved in a couple months ago and the place has so much potential! He also needs ideas of what to put over his fireplace so that might be an idea for another post. He said he’ll take pics of the house this weekend for me (the ones I saw were from the listing) so maybe you can post them Kim and people can help him out with suggestions. I really hope these pics give him ideas. Thanks jhayne and anon for the comments!

I love the Messana O’Rourke kitchen. Very simple with the pop of a red hanging light. My little kitchn looks humble indeed. This one’s going in my inspiration file for when I win the lottery.

Hi Saif: We had the same problem, though it was really a choice. I spiced it up with 6 ant chairs each a different color and a gypsy multicolored chandelier. That way we can change quickly if we get bored.

OK, I’m late to the party, but, man, this is kitchen heaven! I like the black and white one with the antique wood table. I’d take many of them! Yum!
