What a day at work! I’m exhausted. I think I need a long weekend in a secluded yet stunning spot. Moonlight Head Lodge on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia is a private lodge with 4 suites, designed by Glenn Murcutt and Wendy Lewin. In such a beautiful place the noise and hassles of the city become a distant memory. Ah a weekend to relax, to unwind, reflect, and enjoy the company of good friends. Apparently the expert chefs on hand will prepare whatever we desire all washed down with a hand picked selection of local and international wines. I’m in and there’s room for a few more. I know it’s short notice but who else can make it?

Art by Cristina

Cristina, from Modena, Italy emailed us about her new Etsy store, maiacrippichicca, and her paintings are so pretty that I thought I’d share a few with you and hopefully help her get her store off the ground. Plus, I have a thing for art featuring women so I’m REALLY loving her store, and how captivating each piece is. You’ve got to go have a look. Thanks Cristina!

More Amy Lau

Jo posted about interior designer Amy Lau about a year ago, and when I happened upon her website, I found many more great photos of her work that I wanted to post. Her love of mid-century design makes these spaces so appealing to me. Lots of fun colours, and great vintage furnishings.

Caroline Colston

Another great stylist with an inspiring portfolio. Caroline Colston has a great way with grouping objects. Each collection is beautifully arranged. There is no sense of clutter but these are definitely not minimalist. Love her simple use of plants and flowers. Love the bathroom especially the bulbs peeping out from under the hand basin.

Green and sustainable in Silver Lake

Posted on Wed, 5 Mar 2008 by midcenturyjo

Interior designer Lori Dennis sent us these pictures of one of her newest projects in Silver Lake. The young couple, he a lawyer by day and DJ by night and she an event planner hired Lori and her design team to rock their pad. “We built it from the ground up with green techniques. Materials include recycled glass tiles, 3 Form Panels, Modular Art Eco Friendly wall panels, bamboo floors, organic linens, dual flush toilets (weak flush button for yellow, stronger flush for no. 2), eco friendly paint by Benjamin Moore, Earth Plaster walls, AFM Safecoat stain on FSC certified wood custom furniture and recycled content cement counters. It’s a super stylin’ party pad. Hope you love it!” Do we!! I was going to say the way of future interior design is green and sustainable but it’s not the way of the future – it’s needed NOW! Great work Lori!
