SkB Architects

Posted on Tue, 4 Mar 2008 by KiM

Shannon Rankin, Kyle Gaffney and Brian Collins-Friedrichs began their architectural firm SkB Architects in 1999 in Seattle and in a short amount of time have grown into a highly successful company. Their style is mostly modern but each space feels very warm and inviting. I LOVE the wall in the photo above with the built-in display niche and bookshelf – amazing use of space.

Matthew Hranek is a superb photographer who has shot some amazing spaces that I just adore. I am totally drawn to spaces filled with books and art, and so many of these photos are just that. Very inspiring.

I love the work of stylist Deborah McLean. Fresh, fun, light and young. Love the vintage papers on the wall. It’s a well curated look that appears thrown together and celebrates the found, the vintage and the unexpected.

New Yorker Eric Piasecki has an absolutely stunning portfolio, full of wonderful spaces basking in natural light and filled with all sorts of incredible chairs. This could double as a “chair porn” post.

A Canadian’s art and an Australian’s shop

Since I am off today and am avoiding chores around the house, I thought I would give Jo a little break from a couple WINKS this coming weekend. First, I received an email from Zoe Pawlak, a painter and mom living and working in White Rock, British Columbia. She is incredibly talented, and all her work had me totally intrigued. Gorgeous colours and touching portraits and drawings. I love it all. See more of her amazing art here.

Lee McCabe also wrote us about a homewares site that his wife Jennifer has just launched, based in Australia. It’s called Whiteport, which is a perfectly suitable name because all the products are white. “Our products look equally good in a city loft apartment or a sprawling beach house. White products are simple, timeless and complement any colour scheme.” Selling all sorts of accessories for kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and dining rooms, if you love white you’ve got to check out Jennifer’s store (and they ship internationally). Here are some of my favourite items.
