We’ve had some wonderful posts this week. Kim’s white houses were just amazing. I thought I would counter all the good taste with these shock offerings from Decorating with Crochet, Anne Halliday, Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston, 1975. Yes it’s true I spent my valuable time scanning and editing these dreadful projects from this retro treasury of bad DIY. If you continue now and take some time to soak the details you have been warned!! (If anyone wants the instructions to make one of these, perhaps the crocheted director’s chair or the grandfather clock wall hanging let me know. Actually some of these aren’t that bad. Maybe I’ll get my crochet hook out…. just kidding.)
Stephen Shadley Designs, Inc. is an interior design and architecture firm based in Manhatten that specializes in residential projects. This firm’s work has been featured in dozens of issues of Architectural Digest and Stephen Shadley has been on their Top 100 list since its inception in 1990. Leaning more towards a traditional style, with some modern and cultural influences mixed in, these spaces are warm, cozy and inviting. (The industrial kitchen photo made my heart skip a beat).
Gaelle Le Boulicaut is an internationally known photographer based in France. She has captured beautiful spaces for magazines like Elle Decor (France, Italy, Hong Kong, Germany, China…), Marie Claire Maison and Living Etc. Her photos are breathtaking, and the spaces are modern, eclectic and totally inspirational.
Kim featured stylist Jo Barnes’ work last year and Jo promised to keep us in the loop with her work. Exciting times for this talented stylist. She has a new website and new management. So now there are even more gorgeous photos to drool over. You have a fantastic job Jo (she’s style editor of The Sunday Time’s insideout magazine after heading up the style team at Britain’s top modern homes magazine Livingetc). No wonder with your stellar talent!
I’m intrigued by vignettes around the house and I’m overly fond of natural and found objects lately. I guess that’s why I’m drawn to these beautiful images styled by Thom Driver. So delicate, so faded, so ethereal yet so natural. Autumn is on the way in the southern hemisphere and these are just the right images to get me in the mood. Love his work!
